Being a Traveller: Montréal Week Travel Festivals

One of the things I think of when I think about Montréal is the shear amount of festivals and annual events the city hosts.

The Just for Laughs comedy festival takes place this year between July 7 – 25, 2010, and features amazing comedians.
The world’s largest and most prestigious comedy event includes Gala performances, theatre, club shows, comedic films and outdoor events. Every summer, close to 1,600 artists from around the world keep 2 million festival-goers in stitches at over 1,600 shows, including more than 1,200 FREE performances.

The Urban Arts Festival takes place around the same time as the Just for Laughs festival, and features unique acts for carnival enthusiasts, music lovers and fans of acrobatics.

The Fringe Festival is another one that draws a lot of tourists to Montréal. This year the festival celebrates its 20th anniversary with 20 days of celebrations! The Fringe Festival has been described as a Summer block-party of theatre, dance, comedy and music. It takes over the Plateau Mont-Royal with over 700 events all under $10!

The Montréal Jazz Festival occurs this year from June 25 to July 6th. The website is great and includes lots of videos and a link to listen to jazz music on CBC.
