Day 13's Giveaway: Hair Pins and Pair of Earrings from Once Upon a Peony

Marissa is a Philadelphia-based mom of two twin toddlers. She makes beautiful floral jewelry in a variety of colours and styles:

Take a closer look at the above items by clicking links below. These links will also take you to the Etsy store where you can make your purchases
You can take advantage of a special sale until the end of June - buy 3 pairs of earrings, get one pair free! Go to the Etsy store for more details! Looking at Marissa's responses to my interview questions, it became clear to me that she is one busy lady! I'm glad to hear that jewelry-making is a stress-relieving activity and am glad that I can support her in this way.

1) How does your art practice fit in to your life?
I'm a stay at home Mommy to twin toddlers, and that's a full-time job in itself :) But when they're napping, and after they go to bed for the night, I love to work on my Etsy shop. I love every aspect of running a small business, but I think that making my jewelry is one of my favorite parts. It's kind of a stress reliever for me. After a long day of chasing my girls around, its nice to creep downstairs and make jewelry for a while.
2) Where does everything come together?
My husband and I share the downstairs office. He works on his business at the computer, while I make jewelry at a table I set up along the side wall. We can talk about our days while we work, or just sit beside each other in silence, but its nice to just be together, doing what we love.
3) Do you have any specific goals for your Etsy site or art practice?
I went into this with absolutely no expectations, just some basic ideas. I made some pieces for myself and people suggested I started selling them. I never dreamed I'd have this kind of business, but I love it. I'd love to have my own boutique someday.
4) What would be your super power if you could have one?
I'd love to be able to read minds. It would be a lot easier to create jewelry that everyone would wear if you could read their minds!
5) Recommend a good book and movie
Right now, my favorite author is Harlan Coben.. I love a good mystery. All of his books are great, but my favorite is Just One Look. And my favorite movie of all time is Annie Hall, but any Woody Allen movie is worth watching at least once.
