Day 9's Giveaway: Handmade Purple Mug from Alex at Ugabugabowls
Alex's Artfire store shows her diverse range of wheel thrown pottery. Her passion for pottery started in high school. When she was in college she took it up again in a small 6'x9' room with her own throwing wheel. If you had a chance to look at the teaser feature I did for Alex's work you will see that her studio space now is a bit bigger!

I wanted to get to know more about Alex, who splits her time between being a videographer and in her studio.
1) How does your art practice fit in to your life?
My pottery is as much a part of my life as anything else is. I probably spend as much time in my pottery studio as I do at my day job which is videography. About half of my wardrobe is messy with clay at any given time.
2) Where does everything come together?
My studio is a converted woodshed that was on our property when we bought it. It's 14x14 and up until recently, it was unheated so I could only be out there in the summer. But we finally installed heat and I can work year round!!
3) Do you have any specific goals for your Etsy site or art practice?
My goal is just to get the pottery into the hands of people who will enjoy it. I have way too much in my own home to be able to enjoy it all so it needs to find other homes. While many are striving for various benchmarks in their art, my goal is just to enjoy it. And if that means that I make mugs the rest of my life, that's fine. That's what I enjoy making so that's what I sit down and make.
4) What would be your super power if you could have one?
Super Power. Ummmmm, I'd like to be bullet proof and super strong. I think if I were, I'd go into a profession like police officer or something. I'd love to run to peoples rescue but I'm simply too scared to do so a lot of the time. If I were bullet proof and really strong, a whole lot of my daily fear would probably go away.
5) Recommend a movie or tv show:
My hubby and I recently discovered The Big Bang Theory and watched all of the released DVD's. We howled!
6. Tell us more about where you live what you like most about it:
I live just north of Seattle. It's nice here. Mild weather and there's room to breathe here. I lived in the Boston area for a while and while I loved it, I found the streets so narrow, and houses so close together. Everything felt claustrophobic. I have to live somewhere near water. Every city I've ever lived in has had its foundation in a body of water. I simply can't imagine being landlocked all the time.
